CEIA & the
Canada - ASEAN Centre Sign Agreement of Cooperation
Ottawa, Canada -- June 25, 2020 -- Ronald V.
Portelli, President of the Canadian Environment Industry
Association (CEIA), announced today the successful
conclusion of negotiations with the Canada - ASEAN Centre
(CAC) of Singapore. Mr. Portelli and Mr. Ian Robertson,
Executive Director of the CAC, signed an Agreement of
Cooperation on behalf of the two organizations. ASEAN,
the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, comprises
Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore,
Thailand and Vietnam. The objective of the Agreement is
to enhance the business networks and opportunities in
Southeast Asia for Canadian environmental companies
represented by CEIA.
"This agreement recognizes that the dynamic economic
growth of the ASEAN region has resulted in environmental
management challenges for its member countries, and that
Canadian firms have the capacity to deliver environmental
products, technologies and services to meet these
challenges." stated Portelli. "CEIA and the CAC
will work to promote environmental partnerships and
business arrangements between Canadian companies and
their counterparts in the region." he added.
The Canadian Environment Industry Association is the
national voice of the Canadian environment industry. It
is a federation of nine provincial environment industry
associations and represents the interests of 1,500
provincial and national member companies. CEIA's services
to its members include providing market intelligence,
creating opportunities for networking in both domestic
and international markets, promoting environmental
exports, and representing the industry to legislators and
policy-makers. The CAC has been created by the Government
of Canada to foster long-term mutually beneficial
relationships between ASEAN countries and Canada.
