Purpose: To assist Canadian environmental companies strengthen their international competitiveness and increase export sales

Membership: Open to all Canadian environmental companies and institutions who are members of the Canadian Environment Industry Association and/or Provincial Environmental Association members.

Organization: An EEC Chair is elected annually by CEIA’s Board of Directors at the meeting immediately prior to the annual general meeting.  The EEC Chair serves on the CEIA Board and is a member of the CEIA Executive Committee. The EEC has an Executive Committee consisting of: the EEC Chair, the EEC vice Chair, the EEC past Chair and the chairs of the Trade Clusters. The EEC Executive Committee approves the creation of clusters and the appointment of cluster chairs. The EEC organizes and hosts meetings and teleconferences.  

Trade Clusters: Trade Clusters may be formed when three or more CEIA National members unite for the purpose of export promotion. The geographic and technical trade clusters provide assistance to Canadian environmental exporters. Cluster members nominate a candidate to be Chair of the Cluster. The Cluster Chair's appointment is approved by the EEC Executive Committee. Cluster Chairs are responsible for preparing an annual business plan, convening and chairing cluster meetings, and submitting activity reports to the EEC Executive at the time of regular EEC teleconferences, and to CEIA’s Board at the Annual General Meeting. The purpose of a Cluster is to;

  • network and share market intelligence;
  • identify venues and establish programs such as missions to promote exports;
  • explore, encourage and implement modes of collaboration or possible links with other  institutions and governments;
  • specifically, interface with TTCE Working Groups; and
  • act as a forum to provide advice to the Canadian government on policies related to the cluster.

EEC Objectives: 
1. To provide a national forum for Canadian environment export-oriented companies to network and address international export issues of common interest. 

2. To provide input and liaise with the federal government’s environmental export promotion strategy and plans through Trade Team Canada Environment and its Working Groups. 

3. To provide EEC members with international market intelligence, and promotional and business opportunities available through CEIA’s Business Intelligence Bulletin. 

4. To initiate partnering activities with other sectoral industry associations.

5. To maintain and enhance working relationships with export oriented institutions such as the CIDA, Export Development Corporation, DFAIT, Industry Canada and the Canadian Commercial Corporation. 

6. To maintain relationships with complementary international organizations that benefit EEC members.  

When specific opportunities are identified, members of the Cluster are free to pursue leads individually or in a  joint venture or any other business model acceptable to them. CEIA’s Trade Clusters have no legal or financial obligations and have no liability for any actions of its members.
