Dave began his career in the environment industry in Victoria in 1980 with Seakem Oceanography Ltd. After eight years as an analytical chemist he moved to Vancouver to join Zenon Environmental Ltd. after their successful purchase of the provincial government’s environmental laboratory. He became General Manager in 1991 and held that position until 1999 (Philip Analytical Services had purchased Zenon’s lab business in 1996). In March 1999, Dave was hired by CEIA-BC’s board of directors to revitalize the industry associa-tion.
During his two years at CEIA-BC,
• published 90 issues of CEIA-BC News;
• led two trade missions to Japan and one to Korea involving 18 companies. Now Trade Team
Canada Environment has recognised the efforts of BC’s industry to penetrate these markets and
has agreed to set up a working group with Dave Hope chairing and Industry Canada providing
• doubled CEIA-BC membership. CEIA-BC is now the recognised voice of BC’s environment
industry, not only in BC, but thanks to the internet and email, around the world!
Dave continues to chair CEIA National’s Japan/Korea trade cluster and is currently the president of Axys Analytical Services, a CEIA National Member in Sidney, BC.
